Seeking revenge for his rusty loss the past year against this Orlando Magic team, MJ sought redemption in this series. With a monster Shaq entering his prime and a monster, young Penny having his finest year, MJ didn't just want to beat this duo - he wanted to annihilate them. Nothing short of a sweep was acceptable and that's precisely what happened. In this game, MJ procured the sweep with yet another astonishing performance. Opening by hitting his first 7 shots, he finished with one of his 'super-zone' perfomances with 16-23 shooting for 70%. Again, on call, he produced a brilliant, efficient game to neutralize the combined 56 points scored by Shaq and Penny. Perhaps Shaq went to LA the next year because he had enough of MJ in the east.

too bad shaq left orlando after 96. shaq and penny were well on their way to winning championships together, they were one of the best duo's ever in my opinion.

Yeah they were on their way...too bad the bulls still would've been in their way if shaq stayed. By the time MJ left penny was on his way to phoenix, so they never would've won together.

best duos ever? they accomplished nothing. they got swept out of the playoffs 3 years in a row and were only together i think for 2 years. how can they be considered one of the best duos ever? and they werent on there way to a championship cause the bulls had 2 more years and then u had san antonio in 99 which they wouldnt have beaten then they had the great portland and sacramento teams which they wouldnt have beaten. and besides penny began to suffer from injuries later in his career.

There's defense throghtout the game, but MJ always found a way to lose it. Check out 1:52, you will know how smart MJ is. The player tried to double MJ, and MJ used fake pass to make him ran away to defense Kerr. Then MJ got the chance to play one on one, and used fade away to finish that shot. If MJ tried to lose defense by himself, he maybe trapped, but he fake and prevent the double. with a ball, without a ball, MJ always could fake his opponents and find a better chance to make a shot.
